  84. 1.5 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

  86.     A.  Comply with manufacturer's instructions for handling and

  89. 1.6 PROJECT CONDITIONS

  91.     A.  Field measure prior to preparation of shop drawings and
  92.         fabrication, to ensure proper fit.

  95.         environmental conditions approximate normal occupied
  96.         conditions.

  98. 1.7 WARRANTY
  99.  
  100.     A.  Submit manufacturer's "Life of the Building" warranty,
  101.         stating that under normal usage and maintenance, and when
  102.         installed in accordance with manufacturer's instructions
  103.         and recommendations, porcelain enamel steel chalkboards
  104.         and markerboards are guaranteed for the life of the
  105.         building.

  107.     B.  Warranty shall cover replacement of defective boards but
  108.         not the cost of removal or reinstallation.

  112. 2.1 MANUFACTURERS

  120. 2.2 CHALKBOARD AND MARKERBOARD MATERIALS
  121. NOTE ** 20 gage face sheets are also available in Vitracite
  122.         chalkboard, but single piece lengths are limited to
  123.         12 feet, instead of 16 feet for 24 gage face
  124.         sheets.

  126.     A.  Steel Face Sheets:  24 gage commercial quality steel,
  127.         fired with porcelain enamel, using the DuPont process.
  128.         1.  Face sheets with high-fired brittle ground and finish
  129.             coats are not acceptable.
  130.         2.  Fire porcelain enamel finish at approximately 1000
  131.             degrees F, or lowest possible temperature thereunder
  132.             to reduce steel and porcelain stresses and achieve
  133.             superior enamel bond and hardness.
  134.  
  135.     B.  Core Material:  3/8 inch particle board.
  136.  
  137.     C.  Backing Material:  0.002 inch aluminum foil.
  138.  
  139.     D.  Metal Trim and Accessories:  ASTM B 221 aluminum alloy.

  141.     E.  Laminations:  Hot-type neoprene contact adhesive applied

  227.     A.  Provide tackboards that are integrated with chalkboards
  228.         and markerboards, as indicated on the drawings.

  231.             finish.
  232.         2.  Tackboard surfacing:  Claridge Cork;  1/4 inch thick
  233.             cork and oxidized linseed oil laminated to backing of

  250. 2.6 FABRICATION
  251.  
  252.     A.  Laminate facing sheet and backing sheet to core material
  253.         under pressure, using manufacturer's recommended
  254.         adhesive.
  255.  
  256.     B.  Provide factory-assembled visual display boards, except
  257.         where sizes demand partial field assembly.
  258.  
  259.     C.  Assemble units in one piece without joints, wherever
  260.         possible.  Where required dimensions exceed maximum panel
  261.         size available, provide 2 or more pieces of equal length,
  262.         as indicated on approved shop drawings.  Assemble to
  263.         verify fit at factory, then disassemble for delivery and
  264.         final assembly at project site.

  266. PART 3  EXECUTION
  267.  
  268. 3.1 EXAMINATION
  269.  
  270.     A.  Verify that substrates are properly prepared to receive
  271.         visual display boards.  Do not begin installation until
  272.         unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.

  274. 3.2 INSTALLATION
  275.  
  276.     A.  Comply with manufacturer's installation instructions.
  277.  
  278.     B.  Where visual display boards must be partly assembled at
  279.         project site, use factory-supplied H-bar to maintain
  280.         proper alignment.
  281.  
  282.     C.  Install visual display boards level and plumb, keeping
  283.         perimeter trim aligned in accordance with manufacturer's
  284.         recommendations.
  285.  
  286. 3.3 ADJUSTING AND CLEANING
  287.  
  288.     A.  Verify that all accessories are installed as required for
  289.         each unit.
  290.  
  291.     B.  Upon completion of installation, clean surfaces and trim
  292.         in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations,
  293.         leaving all materials ready for use.
